France’s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) reported a magnitude 2.4 quake in France near Vannes, Morbihan, Bretagne, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Friday, June 6th, 2025, at 8:18 am local time at a very shallow depth of 5. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 2.3 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Plescop (pop. 4,300) located 3 km from the epicenter, Ploeren (pop. 4,200) 3 km away, Arradon (pop. 5,200) 6 km away, Vannes (pop. 54,000) 7 km away, Saint-Ave (pop. 8,900) 8 km away, and Auray (pop. 12,300) 11 km away. In Lanester (pop. 24,400, 38 km away), and Lorient (pop. 58,100, 40 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
