SVRMAF The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for… West central Pecos County in southwestern Texas… * Until 415 PM CDT. * At 318 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 19 miles southeast of Saragosa, or 30 miles west of Fort Stockton, and is nearly stationary. HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of west central Pecos County. This includes Interstate 10 between mile markers 228 and 244.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 7 minutes ago 31 miles northwest of Kodiak, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 36 miles beneath the epicenter near Kodiak, Kodiak Island, Alaska, USA, in the morning on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at 11:17 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Aleneva (pop. 37) located 5 miles from the epicenter, Port Lions (pop. 200) 16 miles away, and Kodiak Station (pop. 1,300) 27 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Womens Bay (pop. 720) located 31 miles from the epicenter, and Kodiak (pop. 6,300) 31 miles away.
