The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE) at Tufts University has an opening for a part-time lecturer position. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2025.
The lecturer search is for a graduate course on Advanced Kinetics and Reactor Design. It is a core course in the Chemical Engineering MS and PhD programs, typically taken by each student in their first year. In this course, we review and build upon prior knowledge of chemical reaction kinetics and reactor design to address more complex scenarios beyond the conventional. While the specific content is negotiable, prior iterations have focused on: reaction stoichiometry with multiple reactions, chemical equilibrium, analytical reactor material balances, numerical reactor solutions, energy balances in reactive systems, non-ideal mixing behaviors/residence time distributions, kinetics of elementary reactions, kinetics of heterogeneous catalytic reactions, and coupled reaction/diffusion. Iterations focused primarily on reactor design or reaction kinetics are also
