Just 13 minutes ago, a 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Villavicencio, Departamento del Meta, Colombia. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Sunday, August 24th, 2025, at 8:29 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 0. km below the surface.
The event was filed by The Colombian Geological Service (SGC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Acacias (pop. 40,600) located 8 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Villavicencio (pop. 321,700) located 14 km from the epicenter, Guamal (pop. 13,900) 19 km away, Restrepo (pop. 17,600) 29 km away, Cumaral (pop. 11,300) 35 km away, and San Martin (pop. 22,300) 38 km away. In Granada (pop. 32,400, 55 km away), Bogota (pop. 7,674,400, 76 km away), Fusagasuga (pop. 88,800, 80 km away), and Soacha (pop. 313,900, 82 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
