Job Description

The Hensley Catalysis Lab, led by Professor Alyssa Hensley in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS), invites applications for a Research Scientist position in the field of computational heterogeneous catalysis. The successful candidate will conduct original and innovative research focusing on:

Mapping the nanoscale reaction mechanism for carboxylic acid upgrading to green hydrogen over platinum-based catalysts.

Applying state-of-the-art approaches to transition state identification in computational catalysis applications.

This part-time position is six-week appointment starting July 14, 2025, or later, and is suited for a highly motivated researcher aiming to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced research environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform fundamental research into catalyst design and performance for green hydrogen production.

Lead investigation into the dominant, nanoscale reaction mechanisms for acetic and glycolic acid upgrading to green hydrogen
