Dr. Hua Yu, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Tyler, is seeking a motivated and qualified graduate student for one partially funded Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant (GTA/GRA) position (MS in Civil Engineering) starting as early as Spring or Fall 2026.

Position Overview:

The selected candidate will assist in teaching and research activities related to soil mechanics (especially unsaturated soil mechanics), cementitious and construction materials, and geotechnical laboratory testing. This position is ideal for students interested in pursuing advanced studies in geotechnical engineering with a strong focus on experimental and sustainable infrastructure research.

Responsibilities:

A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Physics with at least four (4) years of lecturing and/or industrial experience and/ or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience. Specialised knowledge and experience in the field of Physics. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Competence in developing and managing research projects, sourcing of funding and strong managerial/organisational skills. Competence to teach topics in Physics and to teach three of the following courses: Electricity and Magnetism, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Statistical Mechanics, Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics and Electrodynamics and Electronics. The School of Aviation at Auburn University invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure track, limited term contingent on funding Lecturer position (a total of 2 positions could be hired from the applicant pool). We are seeking applications from individuals with a minimum of a master’s degree at the time of employment in any area of aviation or a related field.

The primary responsibility of a successful candidate for this position will be to teach a selection of undergraduate aviation management courses focused on airline management and operations.
