Assistant Professor – Engineering (Civil)

The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Engineering position, with a start date of August 2026.

Duties/Responsibilities 

This position includes classroom and lab teaching assignments in civil engineering courses, as well as freshman engineering. The successful candidate is also expected to direct student design projects. It is expected that this faculty member will have a research agenda that leads to scholarly works and the engagement of undergraduate students.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Doctorate in Civil Engineering or closely related field required. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the terminal degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment. If employment starts in August 2026, terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2027.

Job Description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking a highly motivated and talented Post-Doctoral Scholar to join a cutting-edge project focused on developing a new class of thermal diodes. The research will investigate condensation and evaporation heat transport mechanisms through heterogeneous nanostructures under varying temperature gradients.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct advanced micro/nano-fabrication and fluid/thermal experiments at the micro/nanoscale.

Analyze experimental results and perform heat transfer modeling and analysis.

Prepare and publish high-quality research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
