Located in Midtown Detroit, the Department of Computer Science in the James and Patricia Anderson College of Engineering at Wayne State University (WSU) invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in Artificial Intelligence, with particular emphasis on applications in Health and Medicine, beginning in Fall 2027.

We seek candidates conducting innovative research in areas such as machine learning, generative AI, multimodal AI, computer vision, natural language processing, trustworthy and responsible AI, AI agents, and data-driven intelligent systems, with applications to healthcare, biomedical research, clinical decision support, digital health, or related areas.

The successful candidate will find substantial opportunities for translational collaboration. Wayne State’s Detroit campus places the department alongside the WSU School of Medicine, the Karmanos Cancer Institute, and the Integrative Biosciences Center (IBio), within a metropolitan region served by several major health systems.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science
