Just 4 minutes ago, a 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Csongrad, Csongrad megye, Hungary. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at 8:55 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS), which listed it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 3.6, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 3.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Csongrad (pop. 18,600) located 6 km from the epicenter, Szentes (pop. 27,900) 13 km away, and Kiskunfelegyhaza (pop. 31,700) 19 km away.
