A magnitude 4.5 earthquake near Bima, Bima City, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, was reported only 8 minutes ago by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Indonesia. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 24. km beneath the epicenter in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025, at 4:40 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bima (pop. 161,400) located 76 km from the epicenter, Sape (pop. 5,000) 86 km away, and Dompu (pop. 55,000) 95 km away.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 occurred only 20 minutes ago 59 miles southeast of Sand Point, Alaska, United States, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 21 miles beneath the epicenter near Sand Point, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA, in the evening on Monday, July 21st, 2025, at 9:25 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.9 earthquake. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.8.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Sand Point (pop. 1,100) located 59 miles from the epicenter.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via
