Just 10 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Oras, Eastern Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, at 8:38 am local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 66. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Alugan (pop. 2,100) located 87 km from the epicenter, San Policarpo (pop. 3,600) 87 km away, Arteche (pop. 5,000) 92 km away, Oras (pop. 9,000) 95 km away, Gamay (pop. 9,100) 97 km away, Dolores (pop. 9,300) 99 km away, and Lapinig (pop. 3,700) 99 km away.
