An intermediate magnitude 4.9 earthquake was reported late at night near Pondaguitan, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Friday, July 4th, 2025, at 10:24 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 78. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 5.0. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 5.0, and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.9.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pondaguitan (pop. 2,100) located 83 km from the epicenter, and Caburan (pop. 12,600) 99 km away.

An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred in the afternoon on Friday, July 4th, 2025, at 4:25 pm local time near Kecskemet, Bacs-Kiskun county, Hungary, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Kiskunfelegyhaza (pop. 31,700) located 5 km from the epicenter, Csongrad (pop. 18,600) 18 km away, and Kecskemet (pop. 109,800) 26 km away. In Szentes (pop. 27,900, 28 km away), Nagykoroes (pop. 23,500, 35 km away), Kiskunhalas (pop. 29,400, 46 km away), Hodmezovasarhely (pop. 44,000, 48 km away), Cegled (pop. 39,300, 50 km away), and Szeged (pop. 160,800, 56 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
