Traffic cameras across northern and central Virginia, southern AND central Maryland, and the Washington DC metropolitan area continue to show areas of significant reductions in visibility between 1/4 to 2 miles. Although many of the roads show fair visibility, expect rapid reductions while traveling especially in valley locations and areas near bodies of water. Will monitor the need for any Dense Fog Advisories this morning. Please maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front and obey local speed limits.

At 526 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 3 miles northeast of Retrop to 5 miles southeast of Mountain View to near Binger. Movement was east at 40 mph. HAZARD…Half inch hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include… Hobart, Carnegie, Sentinel, Mountain View, Fort Cobb, Dill City, Gotebo, Rocky, Alfalfa, Cloud Chief, Fort Cobb Reservoir, Albert, Retrop, and Cowden.

Patches of dense fog have developed across much of the region. While not expected to be very widespread, localized visibility may drop below one quarter of a mile. Early morning motorists should use caution through the morning rush. Low beam headlights help keep your vehicle visible to others and reduced speed allows more time for you and others to react. Visibility should improve later this morning.
