Etna (Sicily, Italy): A phase of intense strombolian activity occurred at the Southeast crater during the past night. Starting from around 10 pm, incandescent ejections were seen at the crater and rapidly increased into near-continuous activity.
The activity lasted for several hours and gradually decreased in the morning and during today. During the peak phase, ash plumes were generated that rose to estimated 1-2 km above the summit area of Etna.
Volcanic tremor had started to increase in the afternoon
