An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred only 17 minutes ago 52 miles northwest of Fort St. John, Canada, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles beneath the epicenter near Fort St. John, Peace River Regional District, British Columbia, Canada, in the morning on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, at 11:28 am local time. Weak shaking might have been felt in Grand Haven (pop. 740) located 51 miles from the epicenter, and Fort St. John (pop. 20,200) 52 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Chetwynd (pop. 2,600) located 66 miles from the epicenter.
