An earthquake of magnitude 2.8 occurred 32 minutes ago 8 km southwest of Chrzanow, Poland, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Chrzanow, Chrzanów County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland, in the afternoon on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, at 4:00 pm local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Libiaz (pop. 17,800) located 1 km from the epicenter, Chrzanow (pop. 40,000) 8 km away, Oswiecim (pop. 39,100) 10 km away, Jaworzno (pop. 96,500) 12 km away, Trzebinia (pop. 18,800) 14 km away, and Myslowice (pop. 74,600) 16 km away.
