An intermediate magnitude 4.5 earthquake was reported early evening near Bislig, Surigao del Sur, Caraga, Philippines.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Monday, April 7th, 2025, at 7:54 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 84. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.1 earthquake. A third agency, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.1.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Hinatuan (pop. 10,100) located 30 km from the epicenter, Bislig (pop. 67,600) 42 km away, Tagbina (pop. 10,700) 45 km away, San Francisco (pop. 18,500) 69 km away, Bunawan (pop. 15,500) 74 km away, Bah-Bah (pop. 28,600) 74 km away, Trento (pop. 15,900) 75 km away, Tandag (pop. 29,000) 78 km away, and Monkayo (pop. 51,400) 95 km away.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in
