A shallow magnitude 4.7 earthquake was reported in the evening near Kendari, Kota Kendari, Sulawesi Tenggara, Indonesia.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Friday, May 9th, 2025, at 9:14 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Kendari (pop. 345,100) located 97 km from the epicenter, Katobu (pop. 31,900) 99 km away, and Raha (pop. 70,000) 100 km away.

The Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science (SES) at Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor position for the fall semester of 2025 (September–December).

An Adjunct Instructor will be hired to teach IDE 401 Senior Innovation: Value Proposition and IDE 402 Senior Innovation: Venture Planning and Pitch. IDE 401 meets for two hours on Fridays for the SECOND HALF of the Fall semester; IDE 402 meets one hour per week on Fridays for the FULL Spring Semester. This course sequence leads up to, among other deliverables, the Ansary Entrepreneurship Competition hosted during the Stevens Innovation Expo.
