An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred only 19 minutes ago 29 km southeast of Mohr, Iran, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Mohr, Fars, Iran, in the morning on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at 9:47 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.8 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Mohr (pop. 35,000) located 29 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Gerash (pop. 25,300) located 110 km from the epicenter.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our

Indonesia was shaken near Pelabuhanratu, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat, by an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 only 8 minutes ago, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Pelabuhanratu, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat, Indonesia, around noon on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at 1:55 pm local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 5.1 earthquake.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Pelabuhanratu (pop. 109,500) located 112 km from the epicenter.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile
