Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported a magnitude 4.0 quake in Turkey near Alanya, Antalya, only 16 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at 7:32 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 67.30 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the United States Geological Survey, which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 4.2, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.0, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.2, the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) at magnitude 4.1, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.2.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Gazipasa (pop. 18,400) located 47 km from the epicenter, Anamur (pop. 57,100) 61 km away, Mahmutlar (pop. 24,200) 72 km away, Bozyazi (pop. 28,500) 73 km away, Oba (pop. 28,900) 79 km away, Cikcilli (pop. 21,400) 79 km away, and Alanya (pop. 113,000) 79 km away.
