An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 occurred only 8 minutes ago 43 km northeast of Meiktila, Myanmar (Burma), the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 35. km beneath the epicenter near Meiktila, Meiktila District, Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma), in the morning on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, at 8:25 am local time. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
