An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred in the morning on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, at 7:16 am local time near Blitar, Kota Blitar, Jawa Timur, Indonesia, as reported by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at an intermediate depth of 71. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Boyolangu (pop. 32,300) located 95 km from the epicenter, Ngunut (pop. 26,300) 96 km away, Blitar (pop. 150,400) 99 km away, Kedungwaru (pop. 80,300) 101 km away, and Tulungagung (pop. 65,300) 101 km away.
