The National Observatory of Athens (NOA) reported a magnitude 3.8 quake in Greece near Rhodes, Dodecanese, South Aegean, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at 10:29 am local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the Kandilli Oservatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Istanbul (KOERI-RETMC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.0 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 3.6, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 3.9, and The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 3.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Archangelos (pop. 5,400) located 3 km from the epicenter, Afantou (pop. 5,600) 11 km away, Faliraki (pop. 6,000) 17 km away, Maritsa (pop. 1,800) 18 km away, Koskinou (pop. 4,900) 23 km away, and Paradeisi

Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Chalkida, Euboea, Central Greece, Greece. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at 9:56 am local time, at a shallow depth of 15.70 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.4 as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 4.1, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.4, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.4, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.5, The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 4.3, and The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 4.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Prokopi (pop. 1,100) located 1 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Chalkida (pop. 59,100) located 31 km from
