France’s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) reported a magnitude 3.3 quake in France near Quimper, Finistère, Bretagne, only 3 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, at 12:53 pm local time at a shallow depth of 17.18 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Gouesnach (pop. 2,400) located 2 km from the epicenter, Quimper (pop. 63,800) 8 km away, Fouesnant (pop. 8,700) 8 km away, Ergue-Gaberic (pop. 7,300) 10 km away, Concarneau (pop. 21,400) 15 km away, and Douarnenez (pop. 16,600) 25 km away.
