An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, at 5:14 pm local time near Bandung, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 57. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Banjar (pop. 201,000) located 105 km from the epicenter, Sukabumi (pop. 360,600) 122 km away, Pelabuhanratu (pop. 109,500) 122 km away, Soreang (pop. 116,800) 125 km away, Banjaran (pop. 165,000) 128 km away, Bandung (pop. 2,444,200) 141 km away, and Bandung (pop. 2,444,200) 141 km away.
