An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 10 minutes ago 27 km southeast of Pátrai, Greece, the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5. km beneath the epicenter near Pátrai, Achaea, Western Greece, Greece, in the evening on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at 9:44 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.6. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.6, The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 4.4, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.6, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 4.5, and The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 4.5.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Kalavryta (pop. 1,600) located 14 km from the epicenter, the quake should
