Just 9 minutes ago, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Agrihan Village, Agrihan Island, Northern Islands, Northern Mariana Islands. The tremor was recorded around noon on Friday, April 11th, 2025, at 1:18 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 215. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 5.2 earthquake as well. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.2.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Agrihan Village (pop. 20) located 27 km from the epicenter, and Pagan Village (pop. 50) 91 km away.
