An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred only 7 minutes ago 101 km northeast of Bislig, Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Bislig, Surigao del Sur, Caraga, Philippines, after midnight on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, at 12:20 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Aras-asan (pop. 5,100) located 84 km from the epicenter, Marihatag (pop. 3,800) 84 km away, Hinatuan (pop. 10,100) 90 km away, Tago (pop. 6,300) 96 km away, Bislig (pop. 67,600) 101 km away, and Tandag (pop. 29,000) 102 km away.
