A magnitude 4.5 earthquake near Maitum, Province of Sarangani, Soccsksargen, Philippines, was reported only 7 minutes ago by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a great depth of 476. km beneath the epicenter early evening on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, at 6:17 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Malisbeng (pop. 4,500, 73 km away), Palimbang (pop. 4,900, 74 km away), Maguling (pop. 2,400, 74 km away), Mindupok (pop. 3,400, 75 km away), Mabay (pop. 3,200, 76 km away), Maitum (pop. 8,500, 77 km away), and Kiamba (pop. 11,000, 85 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help
