A magnitude 3.6 earthquake near Tonopah, Nye County, Nevada, USA, was reported only 5 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 6.4 miles beneath the epicenter early evening on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025, at 6:55 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Silver Peak (pop. 110) located 12 miles from the epicenter. In Bishop (pop. 3,800, 40 miles away), Dixon Lane-Meadow Creek (pop. 2,600, 41 miles away), Tonopah (pop. 2,500, 42 miles away), Big Pine (pop. 1,800, 43 miles away), and West Bishop (pop. 2,600, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
