At 1223 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm between Marion and Wytheville, or over Rural Retreat, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph. Heavy rain. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Excessive rainfall may flood roadside ditches causing debris to be washed onto the highway. Flooding of poor drainage areas also possible. Locations impacted include… Wytheville… Bland… Rural Retreat… Ceres… Max Meadows… Bastian… and Marion Wytheville.
