* WHAT…Flooding caused by a glacier-dammed lake outburst is expected. * WHERE…The Salmon River near areas around mile marker 9 of the Salmon River highway. * WHEN…Until 930 PM AKDT Thursday. * IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – At 931 PM AKDT, a trained weather spotter reported that the river water is murky/muddy, flowing quickly, is about 4 ft above its normal level & has risen rather quickly, the river flow is getting rough, making surf/waves in its flow, & trees on the edge of the riverbank are starting to erode into the river, indicating that a glacier-dammed lake

At 1148 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms 19 miles south of Wamsutter, moving northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and frequent lightning. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include… Baggs, Dixon, Savery, High Savery Reservoir, Rim Lake, Dixon Airport, and Slater. This includes Interstate 80 in Wyoming between mile markers 200 and 210.

At 1249 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Pinecreek to near Newfolden to Fisher. Movement was east at 40 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include… Thief River Falls, Roseau, Crookston, Red Lake Falls, Greenbush, Fisher, and Oklee.
