Just 12 minutes ago, a 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Cadoux, Wongan-Ballidu, Western Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded early evening on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, at 7:23 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 5.2 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.8 as well. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.8.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Cadoux (pop. 65) located 7 miles from the epicenter, Badgerin Rock (pop. 19) 8 miles away, Burakin (pop. 27) 11 miles away, and Manmanning (pop. 30) 13 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Koorda (pop. 260) located 19 miles from the epicenter, Kalannie (pop. 180) 23 miles away, and Wongan Hills (pop. 900) 32 miles away.
