At 1216 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Lancaster, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include… Lancaster, Elgin, Buford, Irwin, Unity Fire Station, Lancaster Mill, Tradesville, Camp Creek Fire Station, Antioch, Bear Creek Park, Kirk Air Base, and McDonald Green Elementary School.

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE…Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following counties and independent city, City of Radford, Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski and southeast West Virginia, including the following county, Monroe. * WHEN…Until 315 PM EDT. * IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – At 1209 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. – Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. –

Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is possible this afternoon continuing through the evening.
