Applications are being sought for a postdoctoral researcher in the research area of Fire Research with a focus on Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) fires under the leadership of Prof. James L Urban in the department of Fire Protection Engineering and as part of the Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center at WPI (wildfirecenter.com).

The position will involve leading computational modeling of WUI fire exposure, assisting/contributing to small- and large-scale experiments. The position is for one-year with the possibility of renewal depending on funding.

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Robotics Engineering Department (RBE) invites applications for full-time teaching faculty positions. The individuals selected for the positions will contribute to WPI’s unique interdisciplinary and project-oriented robotics curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching, curriculum development, and advising, the position offers the opportunity to mentor student research projects. Qualified candidates will hold a PhD or equivalent degree in robotics or a related discipline and must be able to demonstrate excellence in undergraduate or graduate teaching in robotics-related topics, such as robot kinematics, dynamics, control, sensing and perception, especially visual perception, manipulation, motion planning, navigation, and robot learning. Given the hands-on nature of the robotics curriculum, significant practical experience in robotics is desired and may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.

The BMDL lab in the Department of Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering at WPI is seeking a highly motivated and qualified postdoctoral researcher to support, conduct, and publish research to find, make, and promote new construction materials that act as carbon sinks. The successful candidate will also help with educational activities in the Environmental Engineering Laboratory. This position is ideal for a recent PhD graduate with a strong background in engineering, chemistry, and analytical chemistry, with a specific interest in applying their expertise to the frontiers of engineering materials. The applicant would be expected to play a key “hands-on” role in various research efforts in the department and would be given the opportunity to develop their own research direction.
