At 428 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 19 miles east of East Helena to 22 miles west of White Sulphur Springs to near Townsend. Movement was northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include… Townsend, Fort Logan On The Smith River, Fort Logan, and Goose Bay.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 246 IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN MONTANA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 7 COUNTIES IN SOUTH CENTRAL MONTANA BIG HORN IN SOUTHEAST MONTANA CARTER CUSTER FALLON POWDER RIVER ROSEBUD TREASURE IN WYOMING THIS WATCH INCLUDES 1 COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL WYOMING SHERIDAN THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ASHLAND, BAKER, BROADUS, COLSTRIP, CROW AGENCY, EKALAKA, FORSYTH, HARDIN, HYSHAM, LAME DEER, MILES CITY, AND SHERIDAN.

A frontal system from the Bering Sea will bring much cooler air to the area Monday along with precipitation, which is expected to begin as rain as early as Monday morning. Snow levels will fall to around 1500 feet through the day on Monday with snow expected down to highway level Monday night into Tuesday morning. There is considerable uncertainty as to how much snow will fall, but up to 6 inches remains possible. The mostly likely spots to see this would be from Trims Camp south along the Richardson Highway and between Denali Park and Cantwell along the Parks Highway. Precipitation will taper off Tuesday night with significant melting expected
