Patches of dense fog have developed across parts of the northern foothills and northwest Piedmont of North Carolina early this morning. The visibility has been reduced to one-half mile or less in some spots, particularly low-lying areas and around bodies of water. The fog should dissipate by mid-morning. If driving across the area, be on the lookout for sharply reduced visibility. Slow down and use your low-beam headlights.

At 616 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Salemburg, or about 5 miles west of Clinton, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include… Clinton, Roseboro, Salemburg, and Turkey.
