A strong frontal system moving north from the Gulf of Alaska will bring locally heavy rain and snow showers Monday afternoon and overnight into Tuesday. The Fairbanks area and west to Nenana and Manley Hot Springs and east to Salcha can expect rain showers to begin between 2pm and 4pm Monday afternoon and transition to snow or a mix of rain and snow between 6pm and 9pm Monday evening. Showers will taper off by Tuesday morning. Snow accumulations will be just a dusting in the valley, with up to 1 inch possible in the hills.
