The citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake reported a magnitude 2.6 quake in Mexico near San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos, Estado de Baja California Sur, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at 1:07 am local time at a very shallow depth of 5. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Costa Azul (pop. 140) located 1 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lomas Cotos Residenciales (pop. 470) located 3 km from the epicenter, San Jose del Cabo (pop. 69,800) 3 km away, La Choya (pop. 450) 6 km away, La Playa (pop. 1,400) 6 km away, and Las Veredas (pop. 10,500) 13 km away.
