Just 9 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Padangsidempuan, Kota Padangsidimpuan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 3:35 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 133. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.1 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Padangsidempuan (pop. 236,200) located 111 km from the epicenter, and Bukittinggi (pop. 121,000) 114 km away.
