An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 10 minutes ago 48 km northeast of Manila, Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 11. km beneath the epicenter near Manila, Capital District, National Capital Region, Philippines, after midnight on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, at 12:17 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Rodriguez (pop. 134,400) located 20 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in San Mateo (pop. 134,300) located 30 km from the epicenter, Antipolo City (pop. 549,500) 33 km away, Cainta (pop. 283,200) 36 km away, Taytay (pop. 231,500) 36 km away, Angono (pop. 87,200) 37 km away, Quezon City (pop. 2,761,700) 39 km away, Binangonan (pop. 219,200) 40 km away, Manila (pop. 1,600,000) 48 km away, and Calamba (pop. 539,700) 67 km away.
