At 1229 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Long Creek, or 10 miles southwest of Burgaw, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include… Burgaw, White Stocking, Long Creek, Murray Town, Ashton, Malpass Corner, Montague, Rocky Point, The Borough, Castle Hayne, St. Helena, Watha, and Pender Memorial Hospital. This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 391 and 411.

Additional rises are possible thereafter. – Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
