Just 7 minutes ago, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Cotabato, PH.14.B8, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Philippines. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at 3:49 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Tabina (pop. 5,100) located 52 km from the epicenter, Cotabato (pop. 325,100) 72 km away, Sultan Kudarat (pop. 105,100) 73 km away, Parang (pop. 44,900) 80 km away, Pagalungan (pop. 31,100) 85 km away, Muricay (pop. 132,100) 88 km away, Pagadian (pop. 186,900) 89 km away, Budta (pop. 1,273,700) 92 km away, and Malingao (pop. 1,122,000) 95 km away.
