The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.3 quake in Japan near Inzai, Inzai-shi, Chiba, only 10 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, at 10:35 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 80. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Shiroi (pop. 62,400) located 3 km from the epicenter, Inzai (pop. 105,500) 7 km away, Yachiyo (pop. 199,500) 8 km away, Kamagaya (pop. 109,900) 9 km away, Abiko (pop. 131,800) 11 km away, Kashiwa (pop. 433,400) 13 km away, Narashino (pop. 176,200) 14 km away, Chiba (pop. 979,800) 22 km away, Tokyo (pop. 8,336,600) 39 km away, and Yokohama (pop. 3,761,600) 58 km away.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism,
