An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred early morning on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, at 6:45 am local time near Libon, Albay, Bicol, Philippines, as reported by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at an intermediate depth of 83. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include San Agustin (pop. 4,600) located 1 km from the epicenter, Libon (pop. 68,800) 3 km away, Polangui (pop. 77,100) 8 km away, Oas (pop. 66,100) 11 km away, Nabua (pop. 25,700) 11 km away, Iriga City (pop. 114,500) 12 km away, San Jose (pop. 35,800) 14 km away, Legaspi (pop. 179,500) 40 km away, and Naga (pop. 174,900) 42 km away.
