The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.1 quake in the United States near Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California, only 2 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, at 4:21 am local time at a very shallow depth of 5.6 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Cobb (pop. 1,800) located 6 miles from the epicenter, Windsor (pop. 27,500) 14 miles away, Clearlake (pop. 15,200) 16 miles away, and Santa Rosa (pop. 178,100) 21 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Rohnert Park (pop. 42,400) located 28 miles from the epicenter, Agua Caliente (pop. 27,100) 32 miles away, Petaluma (pop. 60,400) 36 miles away, Napa (pop. 80,400) 40 miles away, and Vacaville (pop. 96,800) 49 miles away.
