Just 11 minutes ago, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck near San Ramon, Contra Costa County, California, USA. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, at 7:27 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 5.7 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in San Ramon (pop. 76,100) located 3 miles from the epicenter, and Dublin (pop. 57,700) 4 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Danville (pop. 44,400) located 5 miles from the epicenter, Pleasanton (pop. 79,500) 8 miles away, Hayward (pop. 158,300) 10 miles away, Livermore (pop. 88,100) 11 miles away, and San Leandro (pop. 90,700) 12 miles away. In San Francisco (pop.
