Just 14 minutes ago, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Okazaki, Okazaki-shi, Aichi-ken, Japan. The tremor was recorded late at night on Sunday, November 30th, 2025, at 11:55 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 40. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by Japan’s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), which listed it as a magnitude 4.1 earthquake. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.9.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Okazaki (pop. 384,700) located 13 km from the epicenter, Toyota (pop. 426,200) 16 km away, Gamagori (pop. 80,100) 20 km away, Anjo (pop. 188,700) 20 km away, Toyokawa (pop. 184,700) 22 km away, Toyohashi (pop. 377,500) 27 km away, Nishio (pop. 170,000) 27 km away, Kariya (pop. 153,800) 29 km away, and Nagoya (pop. 2,332,200) 41 km away.
