A magnitude 4.6 earthquake near Tarutung, Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara, North Sumatra, Indonesia, was reported only 7 minutes ago by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Indonesia. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate depth of 137. km beneath the epicenter around noon on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, at 12:28 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.6 as well.
