The Eötvös Loránd Research Network of the Kövesligethy Radó Seismological Observatory in Budapest, Hungary (ELRN) reported a magnitude 3.7 quake in Slovakia near Prievidza, Prievidza District, Trencin, only 16 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, at 12:23 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 0. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Tuzina (pop. 1,200) located 3 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Prievidza (pop. 53,000) located 17 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Handlova (pop. 18,000) located 25 km from the epicenter, Povazska Bystrica (pop. 43,900) 26 km away, Martin (pop. 54,600) 29 km away, Puchov (pop. 18,800) 30 km away, Dubnica nad Vahom (pop. 23,800) 32 km away, and Trencin (pop.
